COLLEGE CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT: GEORGIA DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATE PROGRAM
The Georgia Governor’s Council on Developmental Disabilities and the Department of Adult and Technical Education (DTAE) are collaborators in a certificate program to provide training to direct support professionals working with persons with disabilities. The program is an effort to address a massive problem of high turnover and the shortage of trained support staff in vocational and other community services. Increasing the quality of support for people with disabilities across the state remains the primary goal of the program.
